A Quick Look Back, Then Forward
Last week, we covered the unfolding NCAA trial and its impact on college athletics. NIL lawsuits, athlete compensation, and a shifting recruiting landscape are dominating the headlines.
And we get it — it’s a lot. It’s easy to feel like the soul of the game is being lost in all the noise.
But we’re here to remind you:
Baseball is bigger than legal battles.
It’s the pregame rituals between a father and his son.
It’s the high school senior playing for something bigger than himself.
It’s the youth player gripping a bat for the very first time.
This week, we’re shifting the spotlight away from controversy — and back onto the beauty of the game we love.
Let’s talk about what’s still right in baseball.
🧢 Youth Baseball: Let’s Keep It Fun
Across the country, 5–7-year-olds are stepping onto the diamond for the very first time.
They’re not thinking about rankings. They’re not chasing scholarships.
They just want to play.
As CC Sabathia once said:
“You have to learn how to lose.”
Youth sports should be about growth, joy, and learning — not pressure.
Encourage effort. Celebrate the smiles.
That’s where the love of the game is born — and where it should stay.
⚾ High School Baseball: The Heartbeat of Spring
Right now, high school baseball is in full swing. Rivalries, redemption, and road-to-state dreams are in motion.
And behind the stats are powerful stories.
📍Macon, Missouri:
After the sudden passing of beloved coach Derek Phillips, Macon High’s players honored him in their season opener. They wore his number, locked arms before the anthem, and won 10-0.
“He taught us how to be men, not just players,” said senior Jake Bailey.
“Everything we do this season is for him.”
That’s high school baseball — where community meets character. And every inning is about more than just the score.
🎓 College Baseball: Passion on Display
College baseball is loud, competitive, and deeply emotional.
Take Auburn’s Cade Belyeu, who hit a home run just hours after his mother passed away. Coach Butch Thompson called it:
“A moment of strength and tribute.”
These players aren’t just chasing stats.
They’re battling for pride, purpose, and the people they love.
From walk-ons to All-Americans, college baseball proves this game still has soul.
🥎 Travel & Club Ball: Summer Is Coming
Club teams are forming. Tournament schedules are set. And summer ball is right around the corner.
Travel ball is about competition — but it’s also about connection.
Hotel breakfasts. Dugout chants. Friends made from faraway towns.
This season, let’s remind players:
Play hard
Stay humble
Respect the game
Have fun doing it

👨👩👧👦 Parent Perspective: Be Their Fan, Not Their Coach
In his latest video, Coach Beede shares a powerful message to sports parents everywhere:
“Dad, I don’t need you to be my coach. I need you to be my dad.”
🧠 What parents can do instead:
Create pre/post-game rituals with your athlete
Sit back and enjoy (yes, sunglasses and AirPods are okay)
Let your child lead the postgame talk
Focus on effort, energy, and attitude — not outcomes
You’re not there to call pitches. You’re there to love them through the journey.
